The CFO (Chief Financial Officer) of Net Entertainment recently received the “Leader of the Year (iGaming)” award at the Women in Gaming Awards. The Women in Gaming Awards or the WiG Awards invited the industry’s most successful women to partake in the event. The ceremony was held in June 6th, 2014 with 14 winners in total.
Maria stated:
I am completely overwhelmed yet extremely proud to have achieved such an award, not only for myself but for Net Entertainment, too. It is great to be a part of acknowledging the equality of women in gaming; especially as today the male/female divide in senior management is more proportionate than ever.
A definite win for Maria as a career woman and NetEnt as a company.
While Maria Hedengren won the Leader of the Year award for iGaming, the land-based counter part was Dubravka Burda from GTECH. Other categories included “Industry Pride of the Year” won by Hodan Fourie and Michaela Michaylova from PokerStars and Unibet respectively, “Affiliate Manager of the Year” by Melanie Hainzer of Leo Vegas, “Affiliate Team of the Year” by Carly Sawers from PokerStars, “Excellence in Customer Service” by Melissa Zalbeigi from Betsson and so on.
From the images, it seems like they also hired male strippers to accompany the women at the event. Slightly odd but I’m sure the ladies had a great time.
